Design Internship

During a 3 month internship at Moray House School of Education and Sport, University of Edinburgh, I carried out a design consultation process for their 7 Thematic Research hubs, to identify areas where design could enhance external and internal communications.

Tailored to the individual needs of each hub, I created a wide range of branded assets, from social media templates to impactful newsletters. Here I show the work I did for 3 of the hubs.
Skills: Design consultation, Project management, Accessible design, Event communication material, Social media, Brand guidelines, Adobe, Canva

Sport-Related Research Hub

Template series for screens within their building to promote research, publications and events
Taking inspiration from building interior
I explored the building the templates would be situated within, and this inspired my concept: the distinctive tricolour palette of the interior as well as the bold geometric shapes comprising it's structure. Therefore, my designs felt very cohesive to the space, whilst keeping accessibility and longevity at the forefront.

Language, Interculturality and Literacies Research Hub

Event communication material: Instagram stories, physical display screens
Taking inspiration from building exterior
I researched a sculpture on the externality of this hub's building, which I found to represent the hub's values of curiosity and equity in learning. I brought these shapes forward into the templates I created.

Social Justice and Inclusion Hub

Customised newsletter template (built using Microsoft Sway) and event communication material: Instagram stories, physical display screens
A refreshing way to represent Justice and Equality
Avoiding cliche's and common motifs for justice, equality and inclusion, I sought a new way to visualise these values. I created a diverse system based on a tonal patchwork grid, offering versatile ways to iterate templates.
